I just sent out an article on the flu and a few days later, at a nutrition/herbal seminar, I read a great article on the flu and I wanted to pass on some of the highlights to you. What passes for flu or upper respiratory complaints that look like the flu comprises 85% of the flu. Only 15% of these respiratory infections actually are the flu and the flu vaccine can only act on this 15%. Because the flu morphs into a new flu regularly vaccines often do not address the flu you got. The estimate is about 6% that a flu vaccine will help you. The flu vaccine does not protect you at all from potential side effects of the flu such as pneumonia.

The flu is most dangerous to very young people under 2 and the very elderly. Both these groups have, on average, weak immune systems. The flu vaccine that has been around for 40 years has had 0 as in zero % benefit in preventing death or the nastier side effects that could result from having the flu. The flu vaccine is certainly one of the non-mandatory vaccines and the above data is probably why. Further the flu vaccine has been associated in a small but significant number of Guillaine-Barre' Syndrome. My advice is make sure your immune system is very healthy especially if your children are very young, you are very old or you know your immune system is weak based on getting frequent colds etc. We have several of the best supplements available anywhere for this and other possible if needed address to neurologically up the immune system health.

Stay healthy!
